Q. Are bookings required? A. Yes Bookings guarantee you have a ebike. It can get very busy over the summer season, and we would hate you to miss out on a bike, so we recommend that you book by phoning us on 027 3066 136 and speak with Kevin to reserve your ebike. Credit card details are needed to secure your booking.

Q. What do I need to bring? A. Weather dependent but you should always have enclosed shoes such as trainers or walking shoes, a light jacket, baseball cap or similar peaked cap. Sunscreen is a must and if you want to carry your own water you will need a small backpack. Water is available for free at every cellar door.

Q. Where do we meet to hire the ebikes? A. ebikes4wine is located at 41 Lakings Road, Springlands. We operate from the garage down the driveway of this property which is also the location of Number41 bed + breakfast - look for the B+B sign out the front.

Q. How hard is the ebiking? A. The ebiking is as easy as it gets. The terrain is flat. It may take a little practice to get use to the ebikes but if have ridden a bicycle or an ebike before you should be fine. You will receive a comprehensive safety talk and short lesson on how to operate the ebikes prior to departure from ebike4wines in Springlands.

Q. Will I be ebiking on roads? A. There are designated cycleways and also some time spent on roads with a cycle lane, it depends on which wineries you choose to visit from our recommended itinerary. You can have a full day of wine touring on your ebikes with very little time on the roads. We will talk you through the map and where the best places to ebike are and direct you towards the bike paths and cycleways.

Q. Do I have to wear a helmet? A. Yes you will be provided with a helmet and it’s law in NZ that anyone riding an ebike needs to wear a helmet. You will also be provided with a safety vest to increase visibility. You will also have a safety talk as part of your orientation to the ebike, checking your brakes, accelerator, road signals etc. Please note: helmets are cleaned & disinfected after each use.

Q. What happens if it is wet? A. It doesn’t rain much in Marlborough, but if it does, it is not a problem. If you have booked we can discuss options, and if you are here for a couple of days, we can just transfer the booking to another day. If you do choose to hire ebikes on a rainy day some of the wineries are so close together you can normally avoid getting wet by timing your ride. If the heavens open and it pours we will come and rescue you and complete your wine tour in the Mercedes van.

Q. What happens if I breakdown or get a flat tyre? A. We will provide a full back up service if anything like this happens. Depending on the circumstances we may be able to provide a replacement ebike or fix the problem on the spot. Otherwise we will come to an arrangement to make sure you complete your wine tasting / cellar door experience.

Q. Do you hire bikes for children? A. No, restricted to 18 yrs + and under 100kg weight / 6ft 1inch limit.

Q. Do I pay tasting fees at the wineries? A. Yes, most of the wineries are charging $5 -10 per person, which will normally get you tastings of 3 – 6 wines and depending on the winery if you buy a bottle of wine this payment is usually taken off your purchase price.

Q. If I buy wine how do I carry it back on the ebike? A. If you have a back pack you should be able to manage one or two bottles of wine. Otherwise text or call us at ebikes4wines - 027 306 6136 and we can pick the wine up for you prior to collecting you at our designated pick up location. Please remember to tell the cellar door that Kevin from ebikes4wines will be picking up your wine for you later in the day.  Txt Kevin with the cellar door details.
